The European Cast Iron Group consists of experts in the production, development and research on cast irons, consisting of about 180 experts from 27 countries who come both from the academia, such as Universities and research centers, and from the foundry sector and all those who are part of the foundry production chain.
The annual meeting is an opportunity to compare and exchange ideas on evolution and innovation of interest in the foundry sector, dealing with the many aspects that it involves, such as legislation complying, market, production, products microstructure, mechanical properties up to modeling.
In 2025 the annual meeting will be organized by CNR-ICMATE and the Italian Association of Metallurgy (AIM) in Milano, Italy. This will be the 16th edition; the previous meetings were organized in:

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Information on the Call for Abstracts will be published by the end of 2024.
MEETING LOCATION
The Seminar on Tuesday 29 April 2025 will be held in Milan at the CNR - Research Area 1, via Corti 12 (googlemaps link).
On Wednesday 30 April 2025, a visit to a foundry will be organized. Full information will be available by the end of 2024.
MEETING’S DINNER
On Tuesday 29 April 2025, a dinner will be organised. Full information on location and cost will be available by the end of 2024.
ACCOMPANYING PERSONS
Accompanying persons (such as wives, husbands, partners, ..) will be able to attend both Meeting’s dinner on 28/4 and foundry’s visit on 29/4. The relative costs will be published by the end of 2024. The registration to the dinner and to the foundry’s visit for the accompanying persons should be made through the registration form (online or pdf).
TRAVEL TO MILAN
Thanks to its location Milan is perfectly connected with big cities in France, Europe, and worldwide.
By plane:
All three Milan's airports (Malpensa, Linate and Milano-Bergamo) are connected to the Central train Station / Stazione Centrale F.S. by special shuttle buses and trains.
By train and public transport:
The venue is easily reached by Metro Line 2 Green.
Tickets for A.T.M. public transport are on sale in bars, newsagents and tobacconists displaying the A.T.M. sign, as well as in vending machines at bus stops. You can also pay directly with your credit card while entering the subway.
By train (from the Stazione Centrale F.S. / Central Train Station):
- Take the underground (Green Line 2 towards Cascina-Gobba/Gessate/Cologno Monzese) and get off at Piola.
- Take via Pacini and turn right at the junction with via Ponzio.
- In via Ponzio turn left at the crossroads with via Corti. The office is located a short distance to the right.
- Take the Tangenziale EST ring road.
- Exit at Lambrate in the direction of Milan.
- Take via Rombon and continue straight on via Porpora.
- Turn left at the junction with via Teodosio and continue straight on via Ponzio.
- Turn left into via Ponzio at the junction with via Corti. The office is located a short distance to the right.
