Tenova – a company of the Techint Group – is a worldwide partner for sustainable, innovative, and reliable solutions in the metals and mining industries. Building upon decades of experience, with over 2,500 employees and a presence in 18 countries, the company designs technologies and develops services that help mining and metals companies limit environmental impact, reduce costs, save energy, and improve working conditions for their employees.
Over the past years, Tenova has focused especially on two topics that represent key objectives for the steel makers to play in the current market scenario: innovation and sustainability.
Protecting the environment is a crucial challenge of the next decades for the metals industry. Tenova holds a strong market position thanks to its innovative green technologies, ranging from hydrometallurgical processes for metals extraction to DRI plants and electric arc furnaces, passing through flameless and regenerative burners, minimizing NOx emissions, and melting furnaces for the recycling of aluminum. Throughout the energy transition process, the company’s mission is to be a reliable partner in decarbonizing metals production, enabling the replacement of fossil fuels with hydrogen in burners, DRI plants, and EAFs.
Moreover, Tenova has been investing in new business models based on digital competencies and open innovation. In particular, the company has put a lot of effort into developing new solutions based on the enabling technologies of Industry 4.0, with a focus on Predictive Maintenance, Plant Optimization, and Remote Assistance, with the goal of optimizing the production process, reducing costs, improving quality, and increasing production volumes.
Tenova company headquarters – the Tenova Campus – is in Castellanza (Varese), and includes collaboration areas, a training center, sports facilities, and green zones designed to leverage skill-sharing, knowledge, and resources among the company employees. The Campus is developed around the Pomini workshop, a historic precision mechanical facility specializing in high-precision machining and the design/manufacture of roll grinders, roll texturing machines, and related heavy equipment for the metals industry. It also hosts the TenovaLAB, an innovative testing facility for the development of highly efficient and low-emission combustion systems.

Technical visits will include the TenovaLab Combustion Laboratory (https://tenova.com/metals-insights/tenovalab-our-shared-playground-future-leaps-forward) and the Pomini factory, which features innovative cylinder texturing machines based on laser technology (https://tenova.com/about-us/our-brands/pomini-tenova).
