SCOPE

The Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia (AIM) internds to match and to improve the positive and successful experience of the International Conference “Archaeometallurgy in Europe” organized in Milan in 2003.

After 4 years, the 2nd event of the series “Archaeometallurgy in Europe” 2007 will be staged in Grado and Aquileia (provinces of Gorizia and Udine, Italy) from June 17 to 21, 2007.

The Conference aims at gathering and sharing information on all aspects of the history of metallurgy, covering a wide range of aspects relating to Europaean Archaeometallurgical items dating back from the origins to the first half of the 18th C. AD.

The Conference will promote an active dialogue among archaeometallurgy researchers with different specialisations and backgrounds, will create an opportunity to discuss the study of ancient metallurgical processes, conservation science and to discuss the application of modern metallurgical experimental methods and techniques used to investigate, to identify and to date ancient artefacts. Its second purpose will be to create an interaction between institutions and researchers, so as to facilitate the integration of different approaches and to promote contacts and collaborations between scholars from different research areas and from European and non-European countries.
